JJ Rhatigan appointed as main contractor for Strawberry Star’s £280m LU2ON scheme
Strawberry Star Homes, the volume housing division of London-based international property company, Strawberry Star Group, has selected JJ Rhatigan & Company, a leading building contractor, as the main contractor for phase 1 of Lu2on, an award-winning mixed-use development in Luton.
Located on the site of the former Vauxhall Motors factory, where some of Britain’s most iconic and best-loved cars were once built, Lu2on will provide over 850 bespoke suites, one and two-bedroom apartments and first-class facilities such as private roof gardens and 24-hour concierge. Spread over 6.9 acres, 400 high-quality apartments will be built under phase 1, due for completion in Q2 2021.
Initial construction work commenced at the end of June, with site preparation works now underway. This comes just as Lu2on has won the prestigious First Time Buyer Readers’ Award 2019 in the Best Off-Plan Development category. JJ Rhatigan was selected as the main contractor following a stringent competitive tendering process.

JJ Rhatigan have successfully delivered a number of major residential led mixed-use developments including Colliers Wood Tower ‘Britannia Point’, Callis Yard, Woolwich and Carolyn House, Croydon; as well as several award-winning schemes in Ireland including Athlone Town Centre, Charlemont Square Regeneration, Heuston South Quarter, The Grange and Landsdowne Place projects in Dublin.

Strawberry Star Homes plans to deliver 4,000 London-style new homes across London zones 3 – 9 and the commuter belt by 2025.
