The new Garda Headquarters is a vital part of the City infrastructure and provides An Garda Síochána with a centre of excellence and the City with a contemporary civic building that acknowledges its pivotal corner site on a major entry point into Galway City.

The project consists of a complex of buildings with a combined area of approximately 11,000 sq.m on a 1.02-hectare site. The different blocks, ranging from 2 to 5 storeys, interconnect to form a secure courtyard at the center of the scheme. It meets the requirements of both An Garda Síochána and members of the public including offices, conference facilities, vehicular testing, garage/workshops, stores, public reception, prisoner processing areas, firing range and associated ancillary spaces.

Designed by the Office of Public Works, the scheme incorporates sustainable green design principles including green roofs and solar panels and has an A energy rating.
