Offical Launch of Crown Square Development
The Rhatigan Group Officially Launches Transformative new urban campus, the Landmark Crown Square Development in Galway with a Ceremonial Launch Event to be Attended by An Taoiseach, Mr. Micheál Martin

The Rhatigan Group is proud to announce the official launch of the Crown Square Development, a transformative mixed-use urban campus integrating commercial, retail, residential and hospitality located on the Monivea Road, Galway.
On Friday, May 30th, 2025, a special event marked a major milestone in the Crown Square development. An Taoiseach, Mr. Micheál Martin TD, presided over a ceremonial foundation stone laying to officially commence construction of 345 cost rental homes, developed in partnership with the Land Development Agency (LDA).
As part of the event, An Taoiseach toured the offices of ARM and Trinzo – recently established clients in one of the newly completed office buildings. The occasion culminated with a keynote address delivered at the official launch ceremony, hosted in the newly opened Radisson RED Hotel, located at the heart of the Crown Square Development.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin said:

This development will see the creation of a vibrant new community, with the LDA and the Rhatigan Group partnering to deliver 345 much-needed cost rental and social homes.
This is again another example of the Government’s ongoing commitment to addressing our housing needs.”
Crown Square: Galway’s Landmark Urban Regeneration Project
Situated on a prime 12.65-acre site on the edge of Galway City, Crown Square stands as one of Ireland’s most ambitious urban regeneration initiatives. Spearheaded by The Rhatigan Group, this visionary €550 million development is anchored by a masterplan to create a world-class, sustainable urban campus. Aligned with the Galway City Development Plan 2023 – 2029 and the National Development Plan, the Crown Square Development marks a significant step forward in sustainable urban growth.
Inspired by the 15-minute city model, Crown Square is designed to ensure that all essential services – living, working, leisure, and transit – are within walking distance. The result is a compact, vibrant, and sustainable community that supports a modern, connected, low-carbon lifestyle.
Development Milestones
· Total investment by the Rhatigan Group in Phase 1 of this ambitious project will exceed €320 million and delivers 345 cost rental apartments (now under construction), the recently opened 177 bedroom Radisson Red hotel, accommodates 1,250 jobs across two completed office buildings, and has supported over 500 construction jobs annually in Galway over a six-year period.
· The commercial element of Phase 1 is now substantially complete, delivering 120,000 sq. ft. of premium office space. This phase is now fully committed pending completion of tenant fit outs across two buildings. Building one hosts leading organisations including ARM, Trinzo, Uisce Éireann, Arup Consulting, and The Rhatigan Group.
· Galway City Council has acquired building two and plans to relocate City Hall to Crown Square – providing a centralised workplace for over 800 staff.
· Radisson RED Hotel, Ireland’s first, opened in December 2024. This state-of-
the-art, 4-star, internationally branded hotel offers 177 bedrooms, premium dining, and flexible meeting spaces – employing 90 staff, the Radisson Red Hotel sets a new benchmark for hospitality in Galway.
· 345 Residential Units are now under construction. Delivered through the Land Development Agency’s Cost Rental Housing scheme, these premium-quality, affordable units are scheduled for completion by Q4 2026.
· Final Phase of the project is scheduled to commence in Q4 2025 and will include
additional office space with capacity for a further 1,200 jobs and potentially further residential units, completing this landmark development.
