Ministers visit Lord Edward Street Housing Development Site

<![CDATA[Ministers Alan Kelly and Jan O'Sullivan visited the Lord Edward Street Housing Development site today as part of their 'Making Homes Affordable' campaign. Speaking at the launch in Limerick this morning, Minister Alan Kelly said: "Affordability is the key theme for the Labour party and for housing policy in general. There are tentative signs of a housing recovery, planning permissions are up, completions are up and commencements are up."
JJ Rhatigan & Company have been selected as the main contractor for this €11m Mixed Use Scheme, which involves the construction of 83 housing units (a mix of houses and apartments) within the precinct of a derelict and historic clothing factory. The project also includes the construction of a community building and commercial unit, refurbishment works to retained buildings and structures, site works, landscaping and ancillary works. This also includes delicate restoration and conservation work to the existing historical clothing factory.
