Under NDFA Design & Build Framework Agreement, JJ Rhatigan & Company won the contract for Bundles 1 and 3 schools which involved the Design and Build of primary and post primary schools on 10 different sites comprising a mix of new build, replacement, refurbishment and extension.
Nagle Rice National School was part of Bundle 3 Schools and comprised of the construction of a new two storey 12 classroom primary school located on a 1.64 Ha greenfield site in Milltown, Co. Kerry. The new school is an amalgamation of the existing primary school which was located in two separate buildings located in the town. The new school is a two storey building for the main part with a plant room located on the third storey which also provides access to the roof. The school comprised of the following:
- 12 General Classrooms
- Large double height general purpose hall
- Multi-purpose room
- A staff room and all associated offices, stores and toilets.
As well as the new building a new site entrance and roadway was established, incorporating set down / drop off areas, roundabout, parking, paths, ball courts, junior play area, new services infrastructure and landscaping.
