The project involved the refurbishment and extension of the existing Library/Administration Building together with alterations to existing elevations, concourse and main entrance.

The existing building has a total floor area of 4,788m² and the new build accommodation is 1,738m². The demolition and construction works in the President office, administration area, main reception, main concourse and Library was carried out in two phases.

Phase 1: The library was completed between March and October with all services passing through being diverted for demolition. The fire alarm and the security cameras were disconnected in the library and rerouted to give the college full cover of the remaining campus for easy change over between the phases.

Phase 2: The President’s office, Admin area and concourse were completed between June and August.

This project was comprised of 38no individual rooms of which there were; 8no large class rooms, 2no design studios, 2no large lecture rooms, a simulation laboratory, PC laboratory, several offices and meetings rooms, 1no Advanced Telecommunications Equipment Room, and various other rooms and toilet cubicles and a plant room.

All the M&E services were coordinated locally with ITS & design team and agreed method statements were carried out to disconnect existing services or re-route where required. All Mechanical and Electrical strip out was done before demolition started.
