The project involved the Design and Building of an Under Graduate Training Centre at Sligo Regional Hospital in association with NUI Galway. The facility extends to 746m² and is located on levels 7 and 8 of the existing hospital. The extension provides an onsite educational facility for student health care professionals. The development is located immediately above the existing educational facility on level 6, which includes a library and small lecture room and places educational activity at the centre of the hospital. The development benefits from the existing lift and stairs infrastructure and provides a state of the art facility to enhance the existing educational programme.

The building structure was constructed from a steel frame with composite concrete slab at level 8 and metal decking with a warm roof construction at roof level. The external wall panels were constructed with a lightweight metsec steel walling system.

When the building frame was completed the new mechanical services were installed on the plant area of the new roof and the existing services at level 7 were made redundant enabling the progression of the works to level 7. The internal walls of the building were constructed from metal stud partitions throughout with the majority of ceilings being suspended grid ceilings.
